School reopened after Christmas vacation. It was Chemistry class and we answered chemistry question paper.

Third period  was answer paper distribution at 9th standard.

Today, 3 months of teaching practice at St Thomas came to an end. School gave us lots of experiences, memories and great lessons. Quite wonderful days were spent with children there.

3 December 2018, Monday

First and third period Physics class was there. Uses of spherical mirror was taught through a collage making.

pH value was taught to 9th standard through a digital lesson plan. PowerPoint presentation and videos help to convey the topic easily. 

All of us got chance to exercise students through a physical education  class at 8 E

During third and fifth period I got class at 9th standard and we covered another digital lesson plan 'Salts'. We also covered uses of salt today. 
We demonstrated Yoga for 8 th standard students. 

5 December 2018, Wednesday

Ammonia was the topic of new chapter at 9th standard. The video of formation of fountain made students ask several questions. During 4th period we had a revision of the chapter Acid, alkali and salt and a small test paper.

8th standard students wrote and exam including 2 chapters magnetism and reflection of light in spherical Mirrors.

6 December 2018, Thursday

Today during third period we had revision on chapter nonmetals in the chemistry class. Got substitution classes at 7 C and 7 D. Health education class on topic 'Vitamin' was conducted.

7 December 2018, Friday

3rd and 5th period got substitution classes. Conscientisation program on the topic 'Social media and high school students' was conducted for 9th standard students.

26 November 2018, Monday 

Our St Thomas School celebrated its 100 th birthday with wide variety of programs today. It was our pride to serve such a school with our small duties. At 9'O clock flag hoisting was done followed by grand ralley. Students of every class participated with their own items. Traditional dance forms Thirivathira,Margamkali, Oppana, Dandia, kol kali etc. various leaders Vivekananda, Gandhiji, Nehru, different dress styles from different states, many students in colourfull dresses, Red cross club, Scout and Guide students,NSS students along with band music followed the grand procession. At 11'O clock honorable Governer Sadasivam inaugurated the function and also laid the first stone for the newly coming school building. Program was really a big success with the presence of many dignitaries and Alumini and also students, parents and other commoners.

Exams are near even to students are less in class I completed common components in acid.It was a PowerPoint presentation.

28 November 2018, Wednesday

They started with a game at eight standard we discuss the formation of images in spherical Mirrors through a formation game. It was fun and different experience for students. 

With 3rd and 6th periods in the chemistry class we covered common components in alkali and model teaching of acid and alkalies. 

29 November 2018, Thursday

Today was busy with correcting notebooks of students. Substitution classes were given at 6B and 7D classes. For 7 th standard students a health education class was conducted on the topic 'Food and nutrition'. As usual we served noon meal. 

30 November 2018, Friday

During 2nd period for 7 th standard health education class on the topic 'Vitamin'  was given.

4th period I got a Chemistry class at 9th standard we discussed neutralization reaction through experiments and video.

Reflection from spherical Mirrors was taught through an experiment using lasers during the first period. 
It was Diagnostic test for 8 D students during 4th period.It helps to recognize the weak areas of the chapter studied.

Highly active day was today. Everybody  engaged in different different works as possible like cleaning, gardening as the Shatabdi celebrations are here.
First period advanced Physics class at 8 D class. We competed 'Focus and focal length'. Students found out what they are studying through mirrors.
During substitution class at 7C we played drawing animals with Palm outline
Then we all and student teachers of Peet Memorial College together cleaned our staff room. It was a good teamwork. We also helped in arranging the school Garden. 

22 November 2018, Thursday
The idea of teaching' reflection of light in spherical mirrors' through drawing chart was very interesting for students. It was the third period. 
During 5th period acid and alkali comparison was taught through ppt. It helped me to explain well and on students part to understand easily.

Nothing was special about today as I had no subject classes. Got some substitutions. Observed Sabu's class

All are in preparation of Shatabdi Day. Got supervision duties on procession.  A demo on arrangement of students was there.

12 November 2018 Monday

It was the last topic of Physics chapter magnetism. It was easy for students to see and understand the topic so that I decided to show Electromagnet through an experiment and video. 

Second period Chemistry class was a new chapter. Students analyse themselves soda water and carbonic acid through an experiment and video using calcium carbonate. 

It helped to explore their previous knowledge on soda that alI used to drink once in lifetime. 

Observed Bijo's English class at 8th standard. 

13 November 2018, Tuesday

Achievement test for 8th standard students the third and fourth period. Second period it was Chemistry class about Acid rain. Student enjoyed the pictures and video and understand the topic that they suggest  methods to reduce acid rain.

Observed Reshma's class. 

There was 'Snehavirunnu'  buy Alumini students for teachers. They recollected memories about their school days. 

14 November 2018, Wednesday

Birthday of Jawaharlal Nehru was celebrated today as Children's day. LP school section arranged a rally from school to karthikappally Junction. Students the little ones were very energetic that they recited slogans aloud and hold placards. It was very beautiful to saw them dressed in white and white with a white paper cap and red rose tied to dress. One little girl dressed as Bharathmatha and it was really awesome and very beautiful.

As usual i got my class at 8 D for teaching physics. Distributed answer sheets of class test 4 of them scored full marks. Then we entered to the new chapter Reflecting mirrors and completed till mirror dimensions. Students were very cooperating and responding to questions. It was a nice class

Full day long exhibition preparations. Explained, corrected again explained, tried new things again corrected and at last finalized five items for improvised experiments. 

16 November 2018, Friday

It was a fine day. During 630 school for giving last moment instructions for students participating in ' Jilla  sasthramela'.  Dawood  participated in improvised experiments and Sahad in electronics work experience. 

8 Day long 'Malayalathilakkam' for making students more familiar with Malayalam started today. Principal inaugurated the function. Beena Boban teacher conducted the classes for high school students.

5 November 2018, Monday

I went through thinking about a different method of teaching the topic ' Magnetic induction in soft iron and steel'   and found out a game 4 Students. Students are grouped and selected two students as soft iron and steel and proceeded the game. Students enjoyed a lot and understand the topic well.

Observed Bijo's class at 8 E. It was some of the flower and it was a good class.

All teachers are busy doing preparations for Shatabdi Day celebrations.
Got another chance to observe Reshma's class about 'Measurement of kinetic energy'.

We also join the writing address of Alumini of SSLC batch from in 1970 onwards.  School had such a prominent flashback of 100 years.
Some substitution classes were offered for us.

It was a normal Friday. Only substitution classes were there. Helped in writing address of Alumini. Observed Reshma's class.

29 October 2018, Monday

We attended University exam during the morning session. Reached School by noon and had Physics class during 5th period. We discussed magnetic flux density through an experiment. Students were sleepy but as soon as we started experiment using magnets all started to listen carefully. 

30 October 2018, Tuesday

During the third period we had a question answer session and  a testpaper at  9th standard on the chapter nonmetals. Students stay focused on the questions and writing answers

31 october 2018, Wednesday

It was today our last University exam. We all felt a great freedom after completing all the three exams. Returned to school by 1:30 PM. As tomorrow is Kerala Piravi day a holiday due to Mannarasala ayilyam school authorities decided and conducted a poster making and drawing competition for students. Students took part with great interest and all their posters, paintings were displayed in front of office building. During 6th period  Physics class was there for 8 D. Magnetic induction was the topic. Students loved  the experiment shown.

22 October 2018, Monday

Preparation for Sub district Shastramela
Sudents are very enthusiastic to welcome shastramela and to take part in various items.

First period I have my physics class at 8 D. Earth as a magnet and magnetization of hacksaw blade was today's topic. Class was very much interesting because of the topic magnet.
Second period was chemistry at 9 C class. Bleaching action and uses of chlorine was the topic today. Video of Decolourisation of rose petals was new to students. Strength of students was less because many of them are participating in shastramela tomorrow.

 SUB-DISTRICT SHASTRAMELA

Our students Davood and Niranjanan won first prize in improvised experiments. 

24 October 2018,Wednesday 

Principal called assembly to congratulate all those students participated and won prizes in sub district shastramela and sports.  There was a procession from school to Karthikappally junction by raising victory slogans. 

25 October 2018 Thursday 

There was no allotted classes for me today. So i engaged in completing  record works and correcting note books. 

26 October 2018, Friday 

Today start that our University exams. We all attended exam till 12 p.m. and returned to school for afternoon session. 
At 6 the period i joined with others to observe Swathi's class about 'Vaanigyavum kachavadavum'. 
Today also I have no classes. But I got substitution class at 7 D  at 7th period. 

27 October 2018, Saturday

Third period it was my chemistry class at 9th standard. We discussed about heavy water and hydrogen as a fuel today although Sheena  teacher completed this topic as part of seminar. We discussed  it through a question answer session.

15 October 2018, Monday

First period itself I got my class at 8 D. Today we discussed about the topic 'Natural magnets and artificial magnets'. We started the new chapter Magnetism.
During the second period it was Chemistry class at 9th C class. We handled the topics' Nitrogen and preparation of Nitrogen'. students  enjoyed  video.

Today's day was very special that it was World handwash day today. Members of Haripad Rotary Club  shared ideas and displayed, even trained students to wash hands scientifically  through enacting their instructions. 

16 October 2018, Tuesday

Preparation of chlorine was today's topic at 9th standard. The video presentation was very informative. Students discuss on it to found answers. It was  the laboratory preparation of chlorine and they have lot of doubts to get cleared.

20 October 2018, Saturday

Magnetic  compass was the topic discussed at eight standard today. Students are very eager to watch and their self found the north pole using compass. 
During second period Chemistry class was at 9th standard it was about 'Nitrogen cycle'. There was an awesome video related to the topic. Students loved the video and was very Cooperative in class.

During sixth period I got a chance observe Bijo's English class. It was about the story of a village blacksmith. During 7th period  students  around us as Tuesday is Sub District sasthramela which is being hosted by our school.

11 October 2018, Thursday 

We are back to school internship at St.Thomas HSS, karthikappally 4 hour 2nd phase teaching practice. It was a homely feeling being here again. Me, Reshma, Swathi, Sabu and Bijo reached school on time. Then we handed over our attendance register recommendation letter the principal. She guided as to concerned teachers.
Alice Betty teacher allotted me  8th standard the division for taking Physics class Sheena teacher  allotted me 9th standard C division for Chemistry class.

12  October 2018,  Friday

It was a normal day. Substitution classes  were there. I got 8 F at the third period and 9 E 4th period.
